Program Structure
Comprehensive learning outcomes designed for future healthcare leaders.
The Primary Compassionate Care Initiative (PCCI) welcomes applications from students enrolled in Nigerian universities who are pursuing studies in public health, medicine, or related health-care fields. The program runs for six months, combining structured learning sessions with community-based activities and mentorship. Participants are selected based on their interest in community health and their commitment to applying new skills in service to their communities.
The program introduces learners to a strong foundation in public health, humanitarian principles, health systems strengthening, and human-centered design. Building on this base, participants gain hands-on experience in research projects through proposal development, applied learning, project management, and needs assessments. Methods training emphasizes data collection and analysis, stakeholder analysis and advocacy, and the use of focus groups and key informant interviews. Learners also develop report-writing skills in monitoring and evaluation, community analysis, and stakeholder advocacy. Career development support is provided through CV and cover-letter writing, while experiential learning opportunities connect participants with communities through visits and applied learning activities.
